Meet the Waniska Athletics Team
Owner: Devin Buffalo
Devin started Waniska Athletics in 2020, in an effort to motivate and mentor Indigenous athletes. He played 4 years of NCAA Division 1 hockey at Dartmouth College, followed by one year in the ECHL/AHL.
Devin currently attends law school at the University of Alberta.
Jamond is from Slave Lake, Alberta and is a member of the Bigstone First Nation. After spending 2 seasons with the University of Alberta Golden Bears USPORTS team, Jamond has made the transition to a full-time Kinesiology student at the University of Alberta.
Jamond focuses on mobility, dry-land training, and on-ice development at the Waniska Athletics hockey camps.
Roddy Ross continues to add to his already impressive hockey resume. Roddy was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2019, and played 90 games in the Western Hockey League for both Seattle and Regina. He is a student-athlete, and currently plays for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
Roddy is proud member of the Canoe Lake Cree First Nation.
